Antique pillars erected on a new Bathstone base and string course above

The following series of photographs are of a bath stone arch in St Thomas church, Balham. The Arch was dismantled, moved forward and reinstated to create a new screen wall. This was carried out for Campus Construction.

The stone arch being rebuilt, note that the bottom of the arch is raised up on a brick base. This is because later under floor heating was installed which raised the floor level up by 6". In the background the brickwork is being laid creating a simpler doorway where the arch was.

Repair to a damaged stone cherub
|
This Portland limestone cherub is one of four on a church font. The collar was damaged, a new piece of Portland limestone was grafted on and carved in situ.

Damaged Portland limestone pier rebuilt with the worst sections replaced completely
|
This Portland limestone church pier was damaged by a lorry. The pier cap was lifted off and the pier was restored with the broken sections being replaced completely. Then to finish the pier cap was lifted back on.

Replacing decaying bathstone string course with new bathstone
|
The string course above a tall bay window was badly decayed. Scaffolding was needed for access, the old stone was removed a section at a time and replaced with new sections of string course.
