Yorkstone steps and paving
Stone steps
Yorkstone steps and Portland limestone steps are most commonly used as entrances to Georgian and Victorian properties in London. York stone is the generic name for sandstone quarried in North West England and varies from grey to buff in colour. Portland limestone comes from the Jurassic coast of southern England and is creamy white in colour. Both stones are very suitable for exterior architectural masonry work as they are fine grained and hard wearing. We are very experienced specialists and are able to carry out detailed finishing on site which means that our attention to detail is exceptional. Frontages
As well as stone steps and masonry, we are able to undertake whole frontages including brickwork, pointing, rendering, landscaping, paving, Victorian tiling and railings. Victorian mosaics
Victorian pathways tiled with black and white or multicoloured patterns are often found in combination with York stone or Portland stone steps and thresholds. Although not always possible, we can restore original Victorian tiled paths, more commonly they are too deteriorated and need to be replaced. Tiled hallways are generally in better condition as they have not suffered the weather conditions and we are therefore more usually able to restore them. Fireplaces
Natural stone is a perfect choice for a fire surround .... it doesn't burn! Hearth stones are so called because they are made of stone, which is of course, a practical choice. Slate is a traditional material for a hearth stone and Marble has been used for fire surrounds for centuries. Flooring
Natural stone has become increasingly popular for flooring in recent years. As well as being intrinsically beautiful, it is also very hard wearing and easy to maintain.
